Quick answer: Check Android’s Printing settings and enable a compatible print service. Then test from an app with a Print command on the same permitted network as the printer.
First identify which connection you expect
For ordinary local Wi-Fi printing, the phone and printer need a usable network path. A phone using mobile data is not automatically connected to a home printer. Manufacturer cloud-print features are a separate setup. A DIRECT-prefixed Wi-Fi network is also a different path from your normal router.
Find Android’s print service
- Open the phone’s Settings and search for Printing. On many Pixel devices the path is Connected devices → Connection preferences → Printing. Other phone brands use different labels.
- Select an available print service and check that it is enabled.
- If your model requires a manufacturer service or app, obtain the official one through the phone’s app store and check its supported models.
- Return to your document app and open its Print command. Select the printer explicitly.
Google Cloud Print is retired. Instructions that tell you to register the printer in Cloud Print are not a current solution. Do not install an old APK from a download site to restore it.
Use a document that proves the basics
Choose a short, non-sensitive PDF or document in an app that actually offers printing. Some apps do not. A missing Print menu in one app is different from Android failing to discover a printer. Test a second suitable app before changing the printer setup.

Check the network without weakening it
Read the printer’s network name and compare it with the phone’s Wi-Fi selection. Use the normal authorized network instead of a guest connection that separates devices. If the model uses Wi-Fi Direct, follow its documented direct-printing procedure. Do not change router security just because the printer is absent from the list.
If the printer is listed twice
One entry may come from a manufacturer service and another from the default service, or from different connection methods. Send a single harmless test and note which entry works. Avoid sending the same job to every entry at once, which can produce duplicates.
Confirm the repair
Print one page, close the dialog and send another page. If only the manufacturer app succeeds, check whether the system print service supports your model and the desired format. Supply support with the phone model, Android version, printer model and exact service name. Avoid clearing all app data before recording the settings you may need to restore.
